Workspaces
Workspaces have been designed for Kanttila. The workspaces have been named after the Kuopio Women’s Intelligenza who participated in the social debate alongside Minna Canth. Betty (12 m2), Elisabeth (15 m2), Selma (17 m2), Hilda (29 m2), Lydia (39 m2).
Work/multipurpose spaces are suitable as work, training and gathering spaces. The premises have a normal room height, movable furniture and unobstructed access with access control. The workspaces serve as workspaces for artists and researchers, meeting spaces for communities and communal study spaces. The premises are not suitable for artwork that requires hard materials, or smell and noise.
Finland needs more working spaces and places!
Through its central location, Kanttila promotes the development of the field of art, and opportunities for cooperation between operators in the national art sector and international residency actors develop. Kanttila is Kuopio’s first professionally implemented residency community, and concentrating it in the same premises brings significant synergy benefits.
Professionally produced residency activities that build a sense of community and operate internationally are one of the most important ways to develop the mobility of art and science, as well as to develop operating conditions. The residency also offers support functions for existing art institutions, local cultural associations and art professionals.
