Minna’s Salon
The famous Minna’s Salon 22m2 and the dining room 33m2 are staged as a unified, historical entity with books, pictures and AR technology. These rooms tell the history of Minna Canth, equality and freedom of speech.
The completely unique visiting places are open all year round and can be used by the public with an entrance ticket to the exhibition space or can be rented for private use.
Kanttila’s doors were always open to guests. Soon the living room, which was also Canth’s study, became a literary and ideological meeting place for her friends. The concept of “Minna’s Salon” was born. “Countless times there from Kanttila’s rocking chair, this world botched by men was recreated with the help of women and organized into a model country”, recalled Juhani Aho in Young Finland in 1897 of Kanttila’s lively, conversational and opinionated social life.
Do you want to be involved in the development of Minna’s Salon in Kanttila? We are collecting a library of Minna’s works. If you have a donation to the future Kanttila library, contact info@minnacanth.fi.
